Oakhill College – Commons Building
MostynCopper’s partnership with Oakhill College commenced in November 2019, initially engaged to deliver the first two stages of the Campus Masterplan, the Innovation Hub building and Hilltop Precinct renovation. The Commons Building followed as a three-level building forming the administrative and pastoral heart of the College.
Located in a bushfire-prone area at a time where spec 43 requirements were introduced, making it extremely challenging to keep the design the client wanted and submitted at DA stage. The project required specific fire engineering solutions and a staged approvals pathway across multiple Construction Certificates.
Two bridges connect the Commons to the existing Adrian building, addressing heritage sensitivities while improving accessibility for both buildings via a new lift. The courtyard canopy between buildings required close coordination across architecture, structure, and services and became a defining architectural element.
The Commons was completed and opened in August 2025.
